NEXUS Campus Tours
Date: Monday 23rd & Wednesdy 25th February
Time: 10.00am
Location: Daparting From WSU Building
This will either be a walking tour or led by golf cart (depending on how good, depending on how stealthy Toby and Lans got during the break).
Our Nexus team will take new students on a tour we have to legally describe as “Not your official Student Ambassador Tour”. From the best smoking spots just off campus to an honest break down of the halls, food on Campus, and which places to avoid. We promise you some unfiltered time with our Nexus Team while they beg you to do a podcast. ALSO FOR LEGAL REASONS Opinions held by the Nexus team are in no way those of Nexus Publications or its Parent Organisation, the Waikato Students’ Union. Often they are intended as jokes but can come off more like an android explaining the concept of jokes to Alien visitors. But we don’t pay well enough to be choosy.

Ok, come on…. Did you actually need a description for this? Keep the Car is when we buy a shitbox car from some old woman on Facebook Marketplace, and we basically guarantee that it will leave University Campus with the engine running. We gave you nicer cars. We had a Car Yard sponsor it for three years… and they stopped because they kept seeing them on Trade Me the next week. Students are the reason students can’t have nice things! But if you take part in a bunch of stuff in week one, then you go in the draw to win whatever we find last minute, and if we see it on Trade Me, we are sending Seamus to fight you!

* A Halls Pass is the coloured band you receive for your safety that tells the people of campus which hall you belong to so we can ensure you are safe
** This is not to be confused with a Hall Pass, which is when you and your partner have a non-monogamous contract in place, either for a select length of time or for up to five celebrities. While both are helpful for O’Week, only one is found in a bag.
Safety Zone
Date: Mon 23rd – Sat 28th February
Time: 9.00pm
Location: In front of Muesum
WSU Safety Zone is the “Clubs Day” of the evening programme. We are a pragmatic and socially well-adjusted organisation (at least on most days), but we tend to run on an ethos of we take the work seriously but ourselves not as seriously. That is never truer than with the WSU safety zone where our staff and volunteers are there to offer you food, a comfortable place to sit, some water when you have overdone it, and a place to wait for a ride home. The WSU Safety Zone isn’t something we do in O’Week. It is the reason we do Orientation.

What better way to say “The WSU is running a half bakery, sandwich, soup and other student-friendly priced meals multiple times a week in the SUB (keep following us at @Waikatostudents for details),” than to let some idiots run around eating our own fresh pies while drinking things we aren’t explicitly hoping will make them vomit. Clubs Day

The truth is, Thethe Waikato Students’ Union was built on Student Support, on Student Voice and a general promise to look after your Hauora while providing you with a student experience. But if those things make up the body of our reason to be here, then surely it is without question the diverse and engaged rōpū that give the campus its soul. It doesn’t matter whether you are into football, passionate about Māori kapa haka or like to wear a road cone and talk religion (your guess is as good as ours), clubs day is about finding your people. If you can’t do that, then talk to us ([email protected]), and we will help you start a new club so your people can find you. We are even thinking about starting a comedy writers club to help our staff in Tauranga.

What better way to say “The WSU is running a half bakery, sandwich, soup and other student-friendly priced meals multiple times a week in the SUB (keep following us at @Waikatostudents for details),” than to let them eat Cake! (unless you already read the pie description). We are getting six somewhat freshly baked cakes and six hungry students, and we are finding out who can eat the cake the fastest. But that’s too easy so Max and Tayla will tie your hands behind your backs first. Let’s get messy!
